Jacob Hurd (1702-1758)

Jacob Hurd was the 4th generation of his family in Boston. His father was a joiner. Hurd was married in 1725 to Elizabeth Mason, and they had had 14 children. None of their four daughters named Prudence survived childhood. Father of Benjamin and Nathaniel Hurd who also became silversmiths. His house was struck by lightening in 1738, and he moved to Roxbury following bankruptcy in 1755. Although a prolific silversmith, he did not accumulate a substantial estate, and was heavily in debt at his death in 1758.
